Girl, you look fantastic today. Yes, I am absolutely talking to you. I don’t care if you’re lounging around with your hair all messy and a shirt you’ve worn three days in a row. You are fabulous. Don’t even try to argue with me. Now, I just complimented you. It wasn’t that hard. Getting compliments from other people can seem easy, but have you complimented yourself recently? No, I don’t mean by having some weird conversation with yourself where you’re only joking about these compliments. I’m talking about actually, truthfully complimenting yourself. You really should try it and I can teach you how.
First of all, think of all the things that you love about yourself. Make a long, detailed list in your mind. Those are going to be the go to compliments for yourself. Whenever you’re feeling down make sure to keep those in mind as a little compliment to keep yourself positive during the day. Compliments will become a way to keep yourself going through a very stressful day.
We should compliment ourselves more on things that we don’t like about ourselves though. It is a great way to build up your self-esteem and learning to accept and embrace yourself for exactly who you are. Take those negative things that you think about yourself and find something beautiful and amazing within them. Maybe you don’t like your tummy. Learn to compliment yourself on it though. You could say something like “Wow! I look so good in this shirt!” even if you feel like you don’t. Positive thinking and compliments create a positive mindset and a positive boost to your self-esteem.
Finally, a great way to learn how to compliment yourself is through the compliments that your friends give you. Your friends will always compliment you when they feel like it, so take some of the things that they say and continue to say it to yourself during the day. If your friend says, “That shirt looks so cute on you,” keep telling yourself that. Tell yourself repeatedly that you look cute today and even your friend says so. That can really help you kick start a trend of complimenting yourself every few days.
Learn to compliment yourself more. There are so many ways and different sayings to compliment yourself with. Once you get started it will become much easier for you to be able to complement yourself during the day. Start with one every single morning. Say something that you love about yourself. During the day, compliment things that you typically don’t like. All of this will help boost your self-esteem and make you much happier during your day. Just remember: you are fabulous girl!
